PROPOSED RECTIFICATION OF UNLAWFUL COMMENCEMENT OF THE ENLARGEMENT OF OUPLAAS DAM AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE, GREYTON, WESTERN CAPE: NOTIFICATION OF INTENTION TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FORM IN TERMS OF SECTION 24G OF THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT (NEMA) (107 OF 1998) AND NOTIFICATION OF AVAILABILITY OF THE AFOREMENTIONED DOCUMENT FOR COMMENT

John Basil Walker (hereafter referred to as “the Applicant”) proposes the rectification of unlawful activities, including inter alia, the commencement of the enlargement of the Ouplaas Dam and associated infrastructure, on Portion 19, Portion 23 and Portion 24 of Farm 132 Dwarskloof, Portion 1 and Portion 2 of Farm 136 Zand Vlakte, Farm 135 Zeekoe Jagte and Erf 1080 Greyton. The afore-mentioned properties are referred to as “The Site” and are located within the Theewaterskloof Local Municipality, approximately 3 km south-east of Greyton in the Western Cape Province

Holland & Associates Environmental Consultants has been appointed by John Basil Walker to undertake the requisite Environmental Impact Assessment process for the project (in this case a Section 24G process) in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) (No. 107 of 1998), as amended, EIA Regulations (2014). 

The Pre-Application S24G Application Form was made available to the public for review for a 60 day comment period from 24 March 2021 to 31 May 2021. All comments received were responded to and incorporated into the updated S24G Application Form which is available for further public comment for a period of 30 days, from 4 November 2022 to 5 December 2022, and downloadable via the link below. A comprehensive Executive Summary (within the letter of notification to I&APs) is also provided as a separate link for download below.

Potential Interested & Affected Parties (I&APs) have 30 days, i.e. until 5 December 2022, to register as I&APs and raise any issues or concerns related to the proposed project and the aforementioned documents. Any comments received from I&APs will be incorporated into a Comments and Response Report CRR(2) and submitted to the DEA&DP.
