De Zwartland Werf (Pty) Ltd (hereafter referred to as “the Applicant”) is currently developing a mixed-use development on a Portion of Portion 3 of Farm 696, Tweefonteinen (to be registered as Erf 11203) (Environmental Authorization reference: 16/3/3/1/F5/16/2025/20, and amendment reference:16/3/3/5/F5/16/2014/22). De Zwartland Werf (Pty) Ltd proposes a change to the authorised design of the stormwater detention system, to include off-site stormwater detention, via the enlargement of a small existing dam/pond on Erf 11233.

The proposed Stormwater Detention Pond on Erf 11233, Malmesbury, entails an enlargement of an existing small dam on the property, to a storage capacity of 3650 m3, a wall height of up to 2.7 m, and surface area (at full supply level) of 2825 m2.

Holland & Associates Environmental Consultants has been appointed by De Zwartland Werf (Pty) Ltd to undertake the requisite Environmental Impact Assessment process for the proposed project (in this case, a Basic Assessment Reporting (BAR) process) in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) (No. 107 of 1998), as amended, EIA Regulations (2014).

The Draft Basic Assessment Report has been made available to the public for review for a 30-day comment period, and is downloadable via the link below. Registered Interested & Affected Parties (I&APs) have 30 days, i.e. 18 November 2022 – 9 January 2023 to submit comments related to the proposed project and Draft Basic Assessment Report. Any comments received from I&APs will be collated and responded to in a Comments and Response Report CRR, and will be included in the final BAR that will be submitted to DEA&DP for decision making.
