PROPOSED RECTIFICATION OF THE UNLAWFULLY CONSTRUCTED DAM ON PORTION 7 OF FARM NO. 842, NEAR MALMESBURY, WESTERN CAPE: NOTIFICATION OF INTENTION TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FORM, S24G FINE REGULATIONS SUBMISSION AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT REPORT, IN TERMS OF SECTION 24G OF THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT (NEMA) (107 OF 1998) AND NOTIFICATION OF AVAILABILITY OF THE AFOREMENTIONED DOCUMENTS FOR COMMENT 

S24G ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS:

The Applicant (Eben Sadie Trust) commenced with and completed the construction of a small dam of approximately 0.6ha on the affected property in January 2017. The dam has a wall height of 8.47m at its highest point, due to the slope on which the dam was constructed. The dam has a storage capacity of 7 130m3. The dam is filled by means of surface water run-off as well as stormwater from the roof of the farmstead to the north of the dam. The water in the dam will be used for domestic non-commercial purposes. No physical activities related to the dam remain to be completed.

Holland & Associates Environmental Consultants has been appointed by Eben Sadie Trust to undertake the requisite Environmental Impact Assessment process for the project (in this case a Section 24G process) in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) (No. 107 of 1998), as amended, EIA Regulations (2014).

The Pre-Application S24G Application Form, the Pre-Application S24G EIA Report and Fine Regulation Submission have been made available to the public for review for a 30 day comment period, and are downloadable via the link below. Potential Interested & Affected Parties (I&APs) have 30 days, i.e. until 22 October 2018, to register as I&APs and raise any initial issues or concerns related to the proposed project and the aforementioned documents.Any comments received from I&APs will be incorporated into a Comments and Response Report CRR(1) and included in the updated S24G EIA Report , following which the Application and all supporting documentation will be submitted to the DEA&DP.
